Ever since her first appearance at the Second Jazz Meeting in 1978 Kamelia Todorova has been considered the best Bulgarian jazz singer. The year 1979 was especially successful for Kamelia - she won the second prize at the Young Jazz Singers Contest in Poland and the special Duke Ellington prize at the same forum. That same year she took part in two other festivals - Jazz Yantra in India (together with the rhythm section of Stan Getz' band) and in the legendary Jazz Jamboree in Warsaw, Poland. In 1982 she gave guest appearances in Poland, the Czech Republic and Portugal. As a soloist she took part in a festival in Copenhagen, together with the Dynamite Brass Band. In the early 1980s, Kamelia included in her repertoire pop music from Bulgarian composers.

And the big hits start rolling, becoming classic in the domain of Bulgarian pop - Whispered Dreams, Discovery, Words Drift Away, Boy Don’t Look At Me Like That, A World In Love and many others. She won The Golden Orpheus Award for performers (1980), the Grand Prix of the Schlagerfestival in Dresden, Germany (1982), she was invited for concerts in Malta and to appear in the show programmes at the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin. Concurrently, she worked in the cinema, appearing in the films “Surge of Tenderness”, “Bonne Chance Inspector” and “The Turnovo Queen”. In 1983 Kamelia emigrated to West Germany, where she changed her performing style, and Vigin, Germany, released her two singles - Bursting at the Seams (1985) and Chain of Fools (1986), which brought her big success. The first single was produced by Roger Taylor (Queen) and Phil Collins introduced her as a promising star on a BBC radio show. In the early 1990s Kamelia Todorova returned to Bulgaria. She released a number of albums (Two Souls in One, Attraction, Touch, Mood). Since 2000 she has produced some of the greatest masterpieces of Bulgarian jazz music – the albums “Pearls”, “Pleasure” , “ Feels like…”. Constantly looking for wider horizons and stronger challenges she takes part in all major jazz festivals, teams up with the best Bulgarian musicians, and recently also began working with KiNK – one of them most successful Bulgarian DJs.
